City of Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt gave the Cleveland City Council an update on their efforts to obtain more defibrillators at the May 2 meeting. Pruitt came before the council in February to gain permission to apply for the 2022 Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council’s Fireworks Tax grant. This grant would allow the department to purchase five new automated defibrillators to replace old ones that have been discontinued. Unfortunately, the department was not chosen for this grant so Pruitt came before the council to ask for funding to buy new defibrillators. Pruitt got a quote on five defibrillators with extra pads for $10,175. Pruitt said they have enough in the budget to cover that cost. Council member Rebecca Yardley confirmed that this quoted price was the best found among multiple sellers.
