About 1,700 people were rescued in Orange County after Hurricane Ian swept through neighborhoods.
Local leaders met some of the first responders to learn what it took to save lives. "We know that we're going to have a long road to recovery ahead of us," said Deanne Criswell, a FEMA administrator.
Although the sun is back up, the storm's impact is still lingering.
"As a community, you never really know what you have until it's tested," Rep. Val Demings said.
While people were preparing their homes, first responders were on stand-by across Orange County.
"Fire, EMS, Urban Search and Rescue resources to deploy here immediately after making landfall," said Lori Moore-Merrell, a federal fire administrator. On Saturday, county leaders toured the convention center.
