VIDEO: Treasure Coast firefighters who help forest rangers battle wildfires in Texas are back home and waiting to help again. Noah Hines is a forest ranger with the Florida Forest Service. He's now back home in St. Lucie County and on the job. Last month Hines was in Texas battling wildfires. "It was my first time going out so there was a lot to take in," Hines said. He and fellow firefighter Christopher Jacobson, who is stationed in Martin County, were sent to the Buckshot Fire in Texas and worked out of the Smithville office which is about an hour east of Austin. They were there to help other responders battle multiple wildfires sparked by continued hot and dry conditions. "A couple of times there were fires near homes,” Hines said. "Being that our engine was so big, we were tasked with structure protection.”
