The Brevard County Fire Rescue Special Operations Team and Engine 44 responded to a call for a 1,200-gallon fuel tanker that had rolled over at around 11:25 a.m. on Thursday. The accident happened on southbound I-95 at mile marker 200. In order to remove the diesel fuel from the overturned truck, Special Ops personnel had to drill and tap a hole into the tanker. According to officials, air tools and Alcohol Resistant Film Forming Foam were used in order to eliminate any possible ignition sources while drilling the tank to protect the firefighters. The product was pumped into another tanker and hauled to a collection facility. “Another job well done by our Brevard County Fire Rescue firefighters!” said Brevard County Fire Rescue officials.
