Lehigh Acres fire crews are responding to a fire at a home on Oakside Street. One dog died in the fire at the home in the 120 block of Oakside Street, according to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District. A second dog was rescued from underneath a bed in a room at the home. A firefighter carried the dog out. The third dog was found roaming around by a good Samaritan. Robert Yennerell was cutting his grass when he heard an explosion in the home. He didn’t wait for firefighters to arrive. “Immediately I knew what would happen, so I jumped off the mower,” Yennerell said. “My wife had heard it in the house, too. I yelled at her to call 911 and then I ran over there.” Yennerell said he started banging on the doors and windows of the home but discovered everything was locked up.
