A North Stamford home was destroyed after a fire broke out shortly before 6 a.m., Friday, according to the Stamford Fire Department. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries to fire personnel were reported.
At 5:49 a.m., 911 dispatch began receiving calls about a house possibly on fire on Butternut Lane off Long Ridge Road, SFD Capt. Philip Hayes said in a news release.
An engine from the Long Ridge Volunteer Fire Company arrived first and confirmed a structure fire at a home in the 200 block of Butternut Lane, Hayes said. A "Level 1 tanker response" was immediately requested to help fight the flames, bringing tankers from Long Ridge Fire Company, Turn of River Fire Department, Banksville Fire Department and Pound Ridge Fire Department.
