VIDEO/PHOTOS: Fire crews were called to a scrapyard fire in Montville on Wednesday morning. Public safety dispatchers confirmed to Channel 3 that they received calls around 7 a.m. for a fire at 33 Pequot Rd., which is the address for CT Scrap. The scene was described as active. Crews, including mutual aid that was called to the scene, have been working to contain the fire. The area was a 100 foot by 50 foot by 60 foot area of scrap metal. “The problem right now is the pile is so dense, we’ve had to dig into the pile to get to the seed of the fire,” said Paul Barnes, Montville fire marshal. “Two years ago, we were here for 7 hours.” No injuries were reported. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said it was monitoring the incident for air and water quality. So far, there were no concerns:
