Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish a fire that broke out at a downtown Stamford townhouse on Tuesday morning, but the blaze caused approximately $40,000 worth of damage, according to the Stamford Fire Department.
At 8:36 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to a report of a structure fire on Lindale Street next to First Congregational Church in downtown Stamford.
First-arriving units from headquarters found a fire involving the laundry room and a garage of Unit B in the townhouse complex, Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Matt Palmer said in a news release Tuesday evening.
The fire was contained in less than eight minutes, Palmer noted, and no injuries were reported. "The immediate actions of first-arriving firefighters quickly contained the fire to the area of origin and prevented damage to the adjacent units in the complex," Palmer said.
