There will be a new vehicle driving around New Milford as Fire Marshal Kevin Reynolds checks in on fire hazards and blazes in the area.
Mayor Pete Bass announced the new fire marshal vehicle— a black 2021 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor— in a social media post on Tuesday.
“As we are updating our town fleet we are replacing older, less fuel efficient vehicles that require more service and maintenance calls for new, more efficient models,” Bass said.
The car was paid for using unused funds that would usually pay the deputy fire marshal salary, according to Reynolds. The cost was $42,757 and the vehicle is the same one the police department uses.
Bass also noted that they were able to use state bid pricing for the vehicle, and expect it to last at least 12 to 15 years.
The Fire Marshal’s Office has been operating without a full-time deputy, Reynolds said.
