A fire caused significant damage to a detached garage Tuesday afternoon in the 3000 block of Pear Avenue, according to the Cañon City Area Fire Protection District.
Lt. Shane Roberts said the crews responded at 2 p.m. after a report of smoke coming from the window of a house near Dozier and Central avenues.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved detached garage. The fire reportedly was beginning to extend to the home, but crews from the Cañon City fire stations and the Cañon City Volunteer Fire Department were able to bring the fire under control and keep the damage to the house primarily on the exterior.
Roberts said there were no injuries reported, and the cause and origin of the fire is under investigation from local law enforcement and fire district investigators.
