PHOTOS: Several vehicles ended up damaged following a structure fire at an apartment complex in Fresno, suspected to have been started by metallic balloons, the Fresno Fire Department said. On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters say they received reports of a fire at an apartment complex near San Jose and Feland Avenues. When crews arrived, they encountered a vegetation fire that fire officials say was threatening power lines and spreading to parked vehicles. It took 16 firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control and cool all the hot spots. Nobody reported injuries, but firefighters say several cars were damaged. It is suspected that Mylar balloons tangled in the power lines may have sparked the fire. Fresno Fire reminds the public that these metallic balloons can conduct electricity and pose a hazard if they come in contact with power lines.
