VIDEO/PHOTOS: An Amazon Fulfillment Center BFL1 employee shared a video with Eyewitness News as employees were evacuated and sent home, according to the employee. They said employees at the fulfillment center on Petrol Road were sent home due to how close the fire was to the Amazon center. The Kern County Fire Department said two fires Tuesday on James Road and another near Highway 65 burned 75 total acres. At around 2:28 p.m., KCFD firefighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire north of Bakersfield, west of Airport Drive between Carrier Parkway Avenue and Petrol Road, when they diverted to a second fire that they saw along their route, which burned just north of the Amazon Distribution Center, located on Petrol Road, near James Road, said KCFD. The fire, about two acres in size, burned in thick, dry grass, and was driven by winds.
