The Cultural Fire Management Council is seeking a Cultural Fire Training Center Complex in Weitchpec, California, to host various training events, provide office space, and house fire engines, tools, and apparatus. “It gives us a place to house all our employees and our equipment, a place to do our trainings, basically a home for our organization, said Cultural Fire Management Council Director of Traditional and Family Burning, Elizabeth Azzuz. The center will also serve as a resilience center, providing refuge for community members during wildfire smoke events and educating on home hardening and defensible space. “We wanted to start a training facility where we would have our own home to base our crews and all our equipment and could be able to put on the trainings that we do every year. We do three training exchanges a year, one two in the fall, one in the spring," said Azzuz.
