A Sunday evening house fire in Bono left two people dead. Craighead County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Allen said deputies and the Bono Fire Department responded to Craighead County Road 152 around 6 p.m. Sept. 8. When they arrived, they made contact with one victim who made it out of the home safely. According to Allen, the victim said his mother and father were still inside the house. Once crews extinguished the fire, they found the two people dead inside. Allen said the fire appeared accidental and might have been caused by debris the victims had collected from around the home and had burned. He said an investigation is ongoing. Allen did not identify the victims.
