VIDEO/PHOTOS: Mobile firefighters worked on their technical high angle rescue skills on Thursday.
The training comes after a worker was stranded on the side of the RSA Tower on Monday. The rescue was successful and well executed, but the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is taking the opportunity to gain experience and train others for future rescues.
On Thursday, two of the heroic firefighters shared the nail-biting moments of the rescue with NBC 15 News.
The sight of a worker dangling from a rope hundreds of feet above the ground had many people on the edge of their seats, but for Captains Rob Brown and Mike Allen, a moment like this is what they had been training for. "I just tried to make sure I got him over safely. I did not really think about the height, not till at least until after the fact,” said Capt. Brown, “Just making sure everything went smoothly.”
