Repairs to Pelham’s infrastructure caused by last Wednesday’s devastating flooding is expected to take weeks, city officials said during a news conference Tuesday.
Since early Thursday morning, the city has been in the recovery phase from last week’s storm, said Pelham Fire Chief Mike Reid.
More than 250 homes have been assessed for damage in the city since last Wednesday’s flooding, caused by 20 inches of rain that fell on Pelham within 18 hours, Reid said. But Reid said there are many homes damaged by flooding basements whose owners have not yet reported the destruction to the city. Pelham roadways and sewers were also damaged from the flooding, said Public Works Director Andre Bittas.
Bittas said those repairs should be completed in the coming weeks.
