No one was injured but there was heavy damage to a Southside residence in an early morning fire Monday.
Southside firefighters responded just before 2 a.m. to a fire in the 1800 block of Hood Road, according to a post on the fire department Facebook page, and found heavy fire conditions.
There was one occupant at the time of the fire, and that person was able to escape without injury.
SSFD responded with three engines and one rescue truck. Whorton Bend Volunteer Fire Department, A-Med Ambulance, and Southside police also responded. Firefighters were on scene for four hours.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family affected by the fire,” Southside Fire Chief Tim McKee said in the post.
