VIDEO: Twenty-three years after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the Anchorage Fire Department was presented with the United States Honor Flag. The Honor Flag was presented to Honor Network President and Founder Chris Heisler by the Texas House of Representatives for his work following 9/11. Heisler was given the flag in late October 2001, when he worked as a civilian. The flag flew at Ground Zero in the days following the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, and since then, Heisler has taken the flag with him as he served in the U.S. Army. It also took a flight on NASA’s space shuttle Atlantis during its final mission. Since then, the flag has been presented across the country to honor sacrifices made by service members and first responders.
