STUDENT FIREFIGHTER PROGRAM
The Estacada Fire District is looking to fill TWO IMMEDIATE OPENINGS and establish a list to fill openings in the near future for the Student Firefighter program. The students play a pivotal role in the organization. These Student Firefighters will be assigned to A, B or C shift and will work a 48/96 schedule alongside career and volunteer firefighters. Students can practice as competent EMS Providers and be proficient in fire ground tasks.
This is a combination fire district serving a community of approximately 6,000 citizens and runs about 1,500 calls for service annually. The town of Estacada is the hub of the fire district approximately 30 minutes southeast of the City of Clackamas, 45 minutes from downtown Portland and 45 minutes to skiing on Mt. Hood.
Estacada Fire District is a professional career and volunteer fire department that takes pride in in being a part of the community. Estacada Fire has great community support.
Apparatus is modern and the two stations are recently remodeled. The Estacada Fire Station houses, 2 engines, 2 water tenders, brush engine, rescue, and staff vehicles. The George Station is a volunteer station housing an engine. The district also has a live fire training facility located next to the Estacada Station. The district took the recent delivery of a new type 6 brush rig and a new type 3 interface engine. The district is also expecting a new Water tender by Fall of 2023.
· 18 years of age or older
· High School Diploma or GED
· Enrolled in a Fire Protection Technology or Paramedic program at a community college
· Maintain a minimum 2.5 gpa
· Must have completed a Firefighter 1 Academy or Possess a Firefighter 1 certification.
· Have a valid Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days
· Ability to pass a medical physical, physical agility test, background and driving history check including drug screen.
· Pass an oral interview.
Tuition reimbursement is provided based on number of credits, cost of books and fees to a maximum $2,800/term. Shifts worked outside of the regular school term may be eligible for per diem up to $100 per 24 hour shift.
