Fire Marshal

Spokane County Fire District 4 is seeking applicants for the position of Fire Marshal. The responsibility of the Fire Marshal will be to provide guidance, supervision and support of the Districts Plan Review, Life Safety Inspection and Code Enforcement Programs. This position may also be required to respond to emergency incidents and to provide Duty Officer staffing as needed.
Salary Range: $73,579 - $91,583 plus benefits. (Salary and Rank based on qualifications)
Who May Apply:
Individuals meeting the required training and minimum qualifications’ and the physical demands outlined in the position description. The position will be filled at the Captains or Division Chief rank based on qualification. This position’s work will be based on a 40-hour work week that may be modified to meet the needs of the district.
Nature of Work:
Primary responsibility of the Fire Marshal with the planning, supervision, direction, and leadership of the Spokane County Fire Districts Fire Prevention Program. Interaction with other agencies and the public is a routine duty and requires good judgment, high degree of tact, and a thorough working knowledge of fire prevention, fire investigation, fire inspections, and building/fire codes.
Required Occupational Qualifications:
Must maintain the required occupational qualifications of the SCFD4 Firefighter Position. Experience with Plan Review, Fire Investigation and Fire Inspection programs
Training and Certification Requirements:
ICC or IFCI - Certified Fire Inspector I or approved equivalent
ICC or IFCI - Certified Fire Inspector II or approved equivalent within 12 months
NFA or ICC Community Risk Reduction Course / Certified Plans Examiner or approved equivalent within 24 months
Supervision:
Works directly under the guidance of the Assistant Fire Chief
Application Instructions: Applicants MUST submit a Letter of Intent, resume and proof of education, training and certifications to Assistant Chief Howard Johnson. Initial applications will be screened to determine the top candidates. First review will be September 9, 2020.
Interviews: Top candidates being invited to participate in a Panel Interview. The final selection will be made by the Fire Chief. Assistant Chief Howard Johnson will notify candidates regarding date of the interviews.
