Fire Inspector II

Location: Goodyear, AZ

The Fire Inspector II performs annual occupancy inspections and inspections of residential and commercial fire protection systems to ensure compliance with applicable fire codes. Performs inspections for special events and conducts fire scene investigations. This position requires the ability to perform fire safety inspections with moderate technical challenges, to include: conducting research, interpreting codes, implementing policy, testifying at legal proceedings and creating forms and job aids.

The Ideal candidate will be able to provide program management skills and training for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have experience and the ability to work with volunteers, be an informal leader, be self-motivated and contribute to the success of the fire prevention programs and division. The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate with suppression crews, development services and other city departments.

**The City of Goodyear and the Goodyear Fire Department will consider an under fill as Fire Inspector I with current ICC Fire Inspector I certification or Arizona State Certified Inspector I. The understanding that upon hire the selected individual would have six months to obtain their ICC Fire Inspector I certification and/or 12 months to obtain ICC Fire Inspector II. Until that time the selected individual would be hired at the Fire Inspector I starting pay rate of $18.75 per hour until the selected candidate successfully obtains their ICC Fire Inspector I and II certification.
