CampHERO Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Monday, July 19th – Saturday, July 31st

CampHERO is celebrating 10 years of helping girls develop courage, character and confidence while introducing them to careers in the protective services.  Offered by Girl Scouts and taught by local law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel, the camp has served over 1200 girls!

This year’s camp will be held Monday, July 19th – Saturday, July 31st at Madison College-Human and Protective Services building, 1701 Pearson Street, Madison, Wisconsin.

During camp girls experience what it's like to be a real first responder and are introduced to mentors working in the professions. Lessons are hands-on and specific to age: younger girls make and use first aid kits, play cops and robbers, and search for & rescue missing ‘victims’. Older girls learn to start IVs, apprehend ‘criminals’ and put our ‘fires’ in addition to participating in high adventure activities like rappelling and using the jaws of life to rescue ‘victims’.
