At our annual meeting at Fire Rescue International in San Antonio, I humbly accepted the mantle of president of the Western Fire Chiefs Association. The WFCA has been led by some of the most courageous and forward-thinking leaders in our field, and I am honored to be able to pick up where they left off. There are some very exciting and innovative initiatives on our near horizon, as well as some challenges. I look forward to continuing the extraordinary work of Chief Mike Duyck, who has moved up to represent our association at the International level, and those that preceded him. As we embark on these next two years, I look forward to engaging our directors and members as we continue to do what we do best – innovating, serving, and being the leading voice for the western fire service.
