Tonight (Monday) the city of Asotin firefighters made an emotional plea for support to the mayor and city council. This comes after the council discussed the possibility of building a coffee shop near the station in downtown Asotin.
The firefighters voiced their concern that this could hinder their daily activities. They took the city council meeting as a chance to share their frustrations. One of those being, the possibility of the city contracting with a fire district for emergency services, which in turn would mean getting rid of the Asotin Fire Department all together.
"This is why we were shocked and appalled, that a representative of this council in the last session stated that it doesn't matter if there's a fire department,” said Blain Paris, Asotin Fire Dept.
