A Clark County teacher has fallen victim to an arsonist twice in the past month.
The man's Ford Explorer has been set on fire on two occasions. The first time was in early April. The second was this past Monday night. Both times, the SUV was parked outside the man's home on Northwest 2nd Avenue, just south of Northeast 139th in Salmon Creek. Investigators aren't sure if the teacher's job has anything to do with him being targeted.
"Something needs to be done about it," said Tim Pierce, who lives next to the victim. "It's just insane. It could have caught their house on fire. So many things could have happened."
Pierce may have heard the arsonist just before Monday night's incident. He looked out his bedroom window and spotted a suspicious car on the street. But when he stepped out of his front door to investigate, he didn't see the car anymore. He went back inside and heard a large boom 45 seconds later.
"I came outside and the car was just ablaze," said Pierce. "The flames were so big. The whole area was just kind of light because of the fire."
Pierce was also a witness to the first fire in early April. A passing motorist saw the fire and knocked on Pierce's door, thinking it belonged to him. Pierce used a fire extinguisher to put that fire out.
