One person was injured when a 50-foot crane collapsed Friday morning at a Port Townsend boat yard, officials said. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, the Port Townsend Boat Haven in the 2600 block of Washington Street, at about 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a crane collapse. The operator was found trapped in the wreckage and was extricated by firefighters, then was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life-threatening injuries. Bill Beezley of East Jefferson Fire Rescue said the 50-foot crane was being used to pull a mast from a fishing boat when the accident occurred. He said the crane spun around as the wind caught it and fell into the nearby parking lot area.
