Two fires, one at a restaurant and another at a home, kept Yakima Fire Crews busy Monday night into Tuesday morning. Yakima firefighters said they responded to a house fire in the 900 block of S. 26th Avenue around 11:35 p.m. Monday where fire was coming out of the front of the house. Fire crews said one of the children living in the home was woken by the smoke alarm and was able to get the other residents out; five in total. Jeff Pfaff, Yakima Fire Department Spokesperson said, “This family is alive today because of their working smoke alarm, waking them before it was too late. Without the smoke alarm this may have been a fatality fire.”
