No one was injured in a shop fire north of Ellensburg at 1:30 a.m. today. Residents at 3013 U.S. Highway 97 woke up to the sounds of explosions when their shop caught fire 30 feet from their house, Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Rich Elliott said. The explosion is suspected to have come from ammunition igniting. KVFR responded with three engines, one tender, a medical unit and 20 to 25 firefighters. The fire was under control in 30 minutes, but the shop was a complete loss. No one was injured. The suspected cause of the fire is accidental at this point, Elliott said. It is still under investigation, with damage estimates in the $50,000 range.
