Two people died in an early morning house fire on Friday. Colville firefighters were called to a home at 158 Aladdin rd. around 5 a.m. Friday. A neighbor called in the fire and although crews arrived within minutes, the house was already engulfed in flames when they got there. “Life saving attempts were unsuccessful. We couldn't make entry into the resident whatsoever,” said Brad Manke the Colville fire chief and an investigator with the Stevens county sheriff's office. The cold weather didn't make it easy to put the fire out. “We had a lot of problems with our SCBA's, the masks and regulators, freezing up and we had to rotate guys in and out so their regulators would thaw,” said Manke.
