A fire in an apartment building on Elkmont Circle Wednesday morning caused smoke and fire damage and may have displaced some residents, according to Blount County Fire Department.
BCFD was alerted to the fire at 1822 Elkmont Circle, Maryville, at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday, and seven units and 17 firefighters made the scene in minutes, with the first truck arriving at 6:44 a.m. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 6:59 a.m., and left the scene at 8:19 a.m.
BCFD Capt. Johnny Leatherwood said that the unit where the blaze began suffered significant fire damage, while three other units in the building suffered smoke damage.
