Honolulu firefighters responded to a building fire in Aiea on Monday, November 26 at 3:53 p.m. Nine units responded with thirty personnel to the fire at 99-1068 Kahua Place. The first unit arrived at 3:59 p.m. to find a two story residential duplex with black smoke and flames emanating from a second story window on the left rear corner of the building. Personnel established command, secured a water source and commenced with firefighting operations to suppress the flames and prevent further fire spread. It was reported that an adult male heard popping sounds coming from a second floor bedroom and found the fire in the room. He fought the fire from the exterior window with a garden hose. A second adult male and a female with an infant were able to escape the structure uninjured. The fire was brought under control at 4:15 p.m. and fully extinguished at 5:02 p.m.
