A 27-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Wednesday after falling onto the H-1 Freeway from an on-ramp near the Liliha Street overpass, Honolulu police said.
Paramedics said the motorcyclist was traveling north on Liliha Street and turned onto the H-1 Freeway on-ramp. That's when he lost control, slammed into a fence, fell down a steep embankment and landed on the freeway, police said.
He was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, but was later listed in serious condition.
Donaven Hookano, who was at the scene at the time of the crash, tried to help the victim.
