A 30-year-old man is in critical condition at the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam after the car he was driving crashed into a concrete pole Wednesday afternoon, according to Capt. Kim Santos, spokeswoman for Guam Police Department.
The man was driving a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and driving southbound on Route 4A when he ran off the road and struck the pole, causing several power lines to snap and fall onto the road, Santos said in a statement.
GPD Highway Patrol Division officers responded to the scene at about 2:38 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was taken to the hospital and Guam Power Authority crew responded to repair the power lines.
GPD blocked off part of Route 4A near Rancho Camacho as officers from Highway Patrol Division and Forensic Science Division investigated the accident.
