Four kittens are missing in the wake of a fire that tore through a Lawrenceville house Wednesday afternoon. Gwinnett firefighters responded to the two-story home, which is located on Brighton Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville, at about 3:15 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from the resident that the building was on fire, according to Donald Strother, a spokesman for the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. “Fire crews arrived on scene and found heavy fire involvement in the carport and kitchen areas,” Strother said. “Firefighters quickly deployed fire attack hose lines to combat the blaze from the front and back of the residence. Within 17 minutes, the bulk of the fire had been extinguished.” Despite working quickly to douse the fire, the carport, which was located on the right side of the house, was completely destroyed and collapsed during the blaze, also taking with it the car that was in the carport.
