One person severely burned in Savannah duplex fire

One person has been hospitalized after being severely burned in a fire that broke out at a duplex that houses autistic adults Monday morning. According to Savannah Fire, firefighters were dispatched at 9:31 to 2108 California Avenue and doused the blaze on arrival. One resident was severely burned and was taken to Memorial Hospital. His name and condition were not immediately released. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen and caused heavy fire damage to the unit and heavy water and smoke damage to an adjoining unit. In all, two people were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
