A discarded cigarette may have caused a house fire that displaced a family of seven in Snellville on Monday afternoon. One of the occupants of the home on Meadowchase Court reported the fire at about 2:51 p.m. “Crews arrived to find smoke and flames showing from the front of a two-story, wood-frame house over a basement,” said Gwinnett County Firefighter Capt. Tommy Rutledge. “Flames were already extending to the second floor and attic as the first fire truck deployed attack hose lines.”
