Cape Coral firefighters say they need their own training facility in the city.
The department can only do basic training at their stations and a duplex off of Santa Barbara Boulevard, but for live fire training, they're forced to take resources outside of the district to Fort Myers.
"We want to get firefighters, especially our new firefighters acclimated to the heat that they're going to feel in real life," said Division Chief Ryan Lamb. "It's not something I can teach people on a computer screen."
