A Friday afternoon vehicle fire damaged two homes in Wilmington, an official with the city's Fire Department said.
Just before 2:40 p.m., Wilmington firefighters on the B platoon were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire in the area of E. 27th and Thatcher streets.
A St. Francis EMS ambulance was the first on the scene and reported a vehicle fully engulfed with exposure to two residences, said Lt. Andrew Cavanaugh, a city Fire Department spokesman.
Crews eventually contained the fire, Cavanaugh said.
Families residing in the two homes damaged by the blaze are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
