AUDIO: A cigarette is yet again the cause of a blaze in Sussex County, this time at Carey's Camp in Millsboro.
The fire occurred early Thursday morning, after a homeless person, who trespassed on the property and decided to sleep in the camp's tabernacle, fell asleep with a cigarette. "A vagrant person was there, stole a mattress from one of the buildings out here and pulled it into the tabernacle, was sleeping there and apparently was smoking and went to sleep with the cigarette," said Smith. "It caught the mattress on fire, and in turn caught the stage of the tabernacle on fire and it probably did approximately $1,000 damage."
