City firefighters are trained to help residents in a variety of difficult situations.
Though firefighters are mostly known for their work with extinguishing fires and helping with motor vehicle crashes, sometimes firefighters’ work is a bit more specific — like rescuing someone’s finger, trapped in a very tight ring. On Tuesday, the fire department shared photos and a brief story about a ring removal. The first incident was in early August, when fire personnel cut a ring off a woman’s finger after she experienced swelling and pain.
“Initial attempts for non-destructive removal were abandoned due to the patient’s pain and finger swelling,” officials said. This is the second of such ring removals Bridgeport firefighters have done in recent months.
