Firefighters have a blaze under control that broke out inside an industrial tank inside Commerce Park Monday.
Officials said the fire erupted around 7 a.m. Monday inside an exterior “scrubbing” tank that is located at Bedoukian Research on Finance Drive. The company makes perfumes and other scents and the the scrubbing tank filled with carbon, according to Assistant Fire Chief Mark Omasta.
He said there are three scrubbing tanks located at the industrial site but only one caught fire Monday morning. The fire is contained inside the tank and firefighters are using water to keep the tank cool. Opening the tank and providing oxygen to the fire could make the situation much worse, Omasta said, adding that while some water has been poured into the tank, the device is not made to hold water.
