The cause of a multi-unit condo blaze is under investigation after a fire was sparked in a unit at Hillside Village housing complex. Hamden firefighters arrived to a heavy blaze at Townhouse Road complex, with fire burning through the central roof structure of a six-condo building. No major injuries were reported, although a contractor reportedly working within the unit where the fire sparked was said to have suffered slight burns and had difficulty breathing, according Hamden Fire Chief David Berardesca. Residents who live in nearby units escaped safely, but the homes suffered fire and water damage. Hamden Animal Control was on site to assist in the safe removal of five cats from one of the units. The Hamden CERT Team worked with the American Red Cross to assist residents that will need emergency housing. An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is underway.
