After nearly two years of all-too-frequent trips to Manhattan for cancer treatments, city firefighter Scott Johnson is bracing for a series of shuttles to Skokie, Ill. for another round of chemotherapy. Friends, relatives and co-workers are trying to raise money to help him pay for it. "Scott is one of the best people I've ever worked with. He has a great attitude toward the job, toward people — it's really heartbreaking that this has happened to him," said Lt. Michael Ortelle, who is organizing a June 4 pasta dinner fundraiser. Johnson, 43, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer on April 29, 2015. It had already reached Stage 4, and has since spread to his liver. Three operations following extensive radiation and chemotherapy haven't stopped it.
