Grand Junction Fire Marshal calls it a career

VIDEO: A longtime member of the Grand Junction fire department is calling it a career. Charles Mathis served the Grand Junction fire department for more than 38 years. He first joined the ranks as a firefighter and paramedic back in the 70's. He worked his way up the ladder to battalion chief and fire preveniton officer and then becoming the first fire marhsal for the city of Grand Junction. Mathis tells us he's truly enjoyed his career with the department, and there's one thing he'll miss more than anything else. "The people, great gorup of people, a lot of diversity in the department and the stories. I have a million to tell and they have a million to tell about me," said Mathis.
