The Lake County Fire Chiefs Association announced that as of Thursday, March 1, all fire and emergency medical service (EMS) dispatching in the county will now be provided by a Cal Fire emergency command center located in St. Helena.
The change aims to improve the efficiency of emergency responses by allowing all fire agencies within Lake to dispatch from a central hub on one frequency, according to Lakeport Fire Chief Doug Hutchison in a prepared statement. This will also welcome the implementation of enhancements like Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD), which helps to send the closest appropriate resources and pre-arrival instructions to callers in critical medical emergencies easier.
