Two people were seriously injured and required rescue after their vehicle plunged off Highway 166 near the Pine Canyon fire station west of New Cuyama Sunday morning. At least one of the victims was trapped in the crushed wreckage and required extrication. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol website, the crash took place near the Pine Canyon fire station east of Tepusquet Canyon and was reported at 10:24 a.m. The vehicle landed about 100 feet off the road, Santa Barbara Coounty Fire Department spokesman Dave Zaniboni said.
