Firefighters freed two men trapped in a mound of shattered glass after panes they were unloading broke on top of them Wednesday afternoon in Long Beach, according to authorities.
The men were unloading pallets of window glass from a shipping container in the 1300 Block of Via Plata when the cargo suddenly came loose shortly before 1:30 p.m., Long Beach Fire Department Spokesman Brian Fisk said.
The glass shattered on top of the workers, trapping them in broken shards that reached as high as their chests inside the shipping container, Fisk said.
