Eighteen months after Canyon Lake’s only fire station closed during a contract dispute with Riverside County, city leaders will discuss what to do about reopening it.
Impetus for the discussion stems from a dialogue county fire officials are having with Calimesa over a contract extension to provide fire protection and emergency medical responses.
The 6:30 p.m. Canyon Lake City Council meeting is in City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Road.
With Calimesa’s contract expiring June 30, county fire representatives reportedly have offered Calimesa a one-year option that would allow it to continue operating its fire station with two-person crews, despite the county’s mandate of three people to an engine.
