Aptos/La Selva Fire Protection District leaders on Wednesday alleged serious misconduct and sexual discrimination at the fire department after a union vote of no confidence for Fire Chief Jon Jones. The Board of Directors’ written statement also claims the union, Aptos/La Selva Firefighters Local 3535, wants to dissolve the district and merge with Central Fire Protection District. Aptos/La Selva union leaders dispute that claim and refute allegations of sexual discrimination. Union leaders also claim they reported a former treasurer who allegedly stole money from colleagues and took charitable donations.
