A man who spent his entire career working up through the ranks at Hellsgate Fire District will spend his remaining years as chief. The Hellsgate Fire board appointed John Wisner fire chief Wednesday night, a culmination of 24 years of work. Wisner said he never thought he would carry the title, as there was no indication the district’s then-chief would leave before Wisner retires in three years. When Hellsgate’s fire chief left the district for a new job earlier this year, the board appointed Wisner interim chief.
